Mad World

Well, things didn't go exactly as I had planned on November 19th. Instead of buying a Nintendo Wii, I opted to buy an Xbox 360, and so far I'm loving it. What made me buy the Xbox instead? Gears of War - it's easily one of the most incredible games I've played in a long time. I'd seen plenty of video of the game and wanted to play it, but to tell the truth, of all things a commercial set me over the edge. Who would've thought I'd be such a sucker to advertising? I'll admit though, this is one of my favorite ads of all time (right up there with Burger King's "Tendercrisp Bacon Cheddar Ranch"). It's directed by David Fincher (of Fight Club fame) and is 60 seconds of in-game video set to Gary Jules' remake of the Tears for Fears song "Mad World" - if you haven't seen it (you should see "Borat", this trailer airs before it in theaters), then you can watch below:

Yes, that's the song from Donnie Darko. My film-elitist friends say that the commercial is awful because it shouldn't use a song that's so reserved for Donnie Darko, but that's just dumb. If it fits, it fits. So I now own an Xbox 360, Gears of War, and the three $3.99 Burger King Xbox 360 games (which are all actually pretty fun). I've posted my gamertag off to the right, feel free to add me.

Me and the family all headed to Vegas for Thanksgiving and other than losing money (stupid Gators) the trip was a lot of fun. Only gripes were that 5 days in Vegas was a bit much, and the flight schedule on the way home sucked (I flew out of McCarran at 11:45 PM PST, got into Orlando at 6:45 AM EST, then a 9:30 AM flight to Tallahassee - that made for a nasty day).

Things are winding down for the semester, which I'm thankful for, but this has been a very good semester. Congrats to the FSU Women's soccer squad who will make their second trip in a row to the College Cup, facing Notre Dame this Friday. I'll be with them in spirit. I'm hoping they can win a national title on the same weekend my Yellow Jackets fight for an ACC title. I'm not positive after that awful UGA game, but I think the boys can still do it.

So, party on?
